CITY FAIR TRADE GIVES LAST MINUTE SHOPPING OPTION

22 December 2006

Fiona with Hazel Dobson, manager of Gateway World Shop, Durham City.

Fair Trade goods make the ideal Christmas gift, says Fiona Hall, MEP for the City of Durham. Ms Hall is a member of Durham city’s Fair trade group, who aim to crown the city with Fair Trade status.

Commenting on the Fair Trade goods available in the centre of Durham, she said:

“It’s amazing what you can buy… not just Fair Trade tea and coffee, which everyone knows about, but Christmas food like Christmas cake and mince pies, Christmas decorations and a whole range of clothes, bags, jewellry and other gifts.

“With Fair trade now widely available in the city of Durham, it is easy to support the city’s bid to become a Fair Trade city with some last minute Christmas shopping.”
