Commenting on the announcement from the European Commission that it will dramatically reduce the cost of mobile data such as texting, whilst abroad, Fiona Hall MEP, Liberal Democrat Industry Spokesperson, said: "Since the European Commission was forced to introduce caps on roaming voice calls in 2007, we have tried to warn the mobile phone operators that unless they showed more willingness to bring down the cost of roaming data and sms, similar measures would follow. Action at an EU level has come to the rescue of consumers, who had been exploited and manipulated by the mobile phone companies for far too long."
