Fiona Hall has been selected by North East Lib Dem members to be top of the ticket for the Lib Dem challenge for the 2009 European Elections.
Following the count that took place in London on Saturday, it was confirmed that Fiona Hall, elected as the first North East Lib Dem Member of the European Parliament in 2004, will be the number one candidate for the Liberal Democrats going into the 2009 European Elections.
Under the European Proportional Representation system, the North East of England is represented by three parliamentarians, currently one each for Labour, the Tories and the Liberal Democrats. .
Commenting on her success; Fiona Hall said:
“I am delighted to be leading the Liberal Democrat team again for the 2009 European Elections in the North East of England."
